Powell, William of Charleston. He was a Sgt. in the 7th Regt. and, at his discharge in March 1781, became a settler in Charleston. In October of that year he recieved permission to go to Savannah, GA, as steward of HM Hospital and, at the evacuation of Savannah, accompanied the sick to NY. Attempting to return to Charleston, he was taken prisoner by American gun boats, carried to Brunswick, and then allowed on parole to go to NY.

Claim sworn New Carlisle, Bay of Chaleur, 1786, for a house at Charleston and personal estate. Rejected.
